School, Student, Home...It all connects!

Tiger Creek focuses on supporting students by engaging their families in the education process. Our school is committed to building strong, positive relationships between school and parents to support student achievement. When families and educators work together, students are more likely to feel supported, confident, and successful in their learning. TCE will encourage open communication, provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their child's education, and create welcoming opportunities for families to connect with teachers and staff. By working as partners we can create a supportive learning environment that helps every student reach their full potential.

What Exactly is Title 1?

Title 1 Requirements
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title 1, Part A, Section 1116 provides financial assistance to state and local education agencies to meet the needs of at-risk children. The goal of Title 1 is to provide instructional services and activities which support students in meeting the state's challenging performance standards in mathematics, reading, and writing.

Title 1 is a school wide program with a purpose to improve the entire educational program at TCE. This should result in improving the academic achievement of all students, particularly the lowest achieving students. By law, the school system will ensure that strong strategies are in place to build capacity in parents as partners, and to support parents in attaining high student achievement in class, and at home.

This means all TCE Students receive the benefits of being in a Title 1 School.
Title 1 schools usually offer:
  • Additional Staff
  • Professional Development for Staff
  • Evidence-Based Technology Programs for Enhancing our Curriculum
  • Family Engagement Opportunities in Children's Educational Journey

Title 1 Budget for TCE

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title 1 provides financial assistance to state and local educational agencies to meet the needs of at-risk children. The goal of Title 1 is to provide instructional services and activities which support students in meeting the state’s challenging performance standards. These Title 1 funds may go to items such as additional school personnel, web-based subscription programs, adaptive learning platforms, and for parent & family engagement.

Professional Qualifications

At Tiger Creek Elementary School, we are very proud of our teachers and paraprofessionals and feel they are prepared to give your child a high quality education.

As a Title 1 school, we must meet federal regulations related to teacher qualifications as defined by ESEA. These regulations allow you to learn more about your child's teachers training and credentials. All teachers at TCE are highly qualified in the content area in which they are teaching. At any time, you may ask:

  • whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject being taught.
  • whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived
  • what undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds
  • you may also ask whether your child received help form a paraprofessional, and information about their qualifications

TCE School-Wide Goals

Our School-wide goals

How are our School-wide Goals determined?

  • 2026-2027 Math & ELA School Goals are determined based on Spring Georgia Milestones Testing results, MAP results, and Assessments throughout the school year.
  • Once determined, these goals will be posted on our school website as part of our School Family Engagement Policy.

Student Assessments

Student Assessment
TCE students are assessed several times a year to ensure they are learning the state adopted standards from the Georgia Standards of Excellence. Results from the various assessments are used to identify those students who are not mastering the standards and to provide teachers with feedback about instruction. As a staff, the data gathered from these tests help our school identify our strengths and our weaknesses so that we can establish priorities and goals in planning our educational programs.

How do these tests measure my child's progress?

These tests measure student growth from year to year in both reading (ELA) and math.

Students will receive a RIT score (Rasch Interval Unit) which is an estimation of a student's instructional level and also measures student progress or growth in school. TCE teachers and staff will help you interpret your student's RIT scores at our FAST Lunch & Learn Meetings, FAST Night and during individual Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Georgia Milestones Scores - 3rd-5th Grade Students will score in one of four levels:
  • Level 1:  Beginning Learner
  • Level 2:  Developing Learner
  • Level 3:  Proficient Learner
  • Level 4:  Distinguished Learner
At Tiger Creek, our goal is to have all students score Level 3 or Level 4 on the Georgia Milestones Assessments.

School-Family Compacts

Each Title 1 school jointly develops, through meaningful consultation with parents, a School-Family Compact that outlines how families and schools will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the state's high standards. This agreement is now included in the School's Family Engagement Policy.

Throughout the school year, we take all parent comments, recommendations, & concerns through our many meaningful consultations such as parent-teacher conferences, our Fall & Spring PAC (Parent Advisory Council) Meetings, Title 1 surveys, and our school hosted events to help guide us with building the school-wide compact.

TCE Engagement & Parent Decision Making Opportunities

Parental involvement means that we have participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, ensuring that:
  • parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education
  • parents play a integral role in assisting their child's learning and are full partners with the school in their child's education and are included in decision making to assist in the education of their child
  • policies are jointly developed with parents
  • the school jointly develops a Family-School Compact each year that outlines how parents, teachers, and students will share the responsibility for student academic achievement

Parent Decision Making Opportunities:
  • Attend a Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Meeting. There are two meetings - one in the fall (September) and one in the spring (March/April)
  • Complete all school surveys & evaluations - Title 1 includes Fall & Spring Parent Surveys, Short Evaluations of Annual Meetings, Lunch & Learns, etc...
  • Feedback, suggestions or input given to our Title 1 Family Engagement Coordinator Sara Bridges sbridges.tce@catoosa.k12.ga.us

Getting involved is easy!

You can volunteer in the Parent Resource Room anytime during school hours or sign up to help at a special school event (such as Book Fair, PBIS Reward Days, Fall Festival, & more). You can also plan to attend the Title 1 meetings (PAC Meetings, FAST Lunch & Learns) and parent workshops held by the Parent Involvement Coordinator. This will keep you informed and engaged in your child's education journey.

Our PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) is also another way to be involved. The PTO has monthly meetings, and puts on several family events during the school year such as the Fall Festival, Cookies & Cocoa with Santa and more. Stay connected with Parent Square for invites and sign ups! You can find out more by contacting the Parent Involvement Coordinator, Sara Bridges, at sbridges.tce@catoosa.k12.ga.us or by visiting the Parent Resource Room (Room 100)!
