TCE Tiger Talk Newsletter |
As we head into November, I’m feeling especially thankful for the opportunity we have to pour into so many amazing students each and every day. We are so fortunate to have supportive families who partner with us because it truly takes a village to nurture a child academically, physically, and emotionally. Thank you for being such an important part of our Tiger Creek family!
I’m also incredibly thankful for the amazing turnout for our first annual Tiger Trot! Together, we raised an incredible $14,200 to put toward something new and exciting for our playground! Congratulations to our kindergarten team for raising the most money, and a big congratulations to Salem and Ginny Mae, who raised the most individually and earned the opportunity to be PE teacher for a day! We will be sharing the schedule for the other special rewards our Tigers earned through the Tiger Trot soon.
As we head into this season of thankfulness, I’m reminded how lucky we are to be part of such a special school community. Thank you for helping make Tiger Creek a place where every Tiger can learn, grow, and thrive. Every Tiger. Every Day.
Mrs. Jayme Dills TCE Principal Tiger Creek Elementary |
Dear Tiger Creek Families,
As we enter the month of November, it is a wonderful time to slow down, reflect, and remember the many blessings in our lives. With Thanksgiving approaching, I encourage our students, families, teachers, and staff to take a moment each day to recognize the people and opportunities for which we are thankful.
Personally, I am thankful to be part of such a great school community. We are blessed with wonderful students, dedicated teachers, and hardworking staff members who make Tiger Creek a special place to learn and grow. I am also grateful to live and work in such a supportive community that values education and the success of our children. Thank you for the role you play in making Tiger Creek a great place for our students!
I would also like to take a moment to address an important concern: student tardiness. Being at school on time each day is essential to student success. When students arrive late, they can miss important instruction, classroom discussions, and the morning routines that help set them up for a successful day. Establishing good attendance and punctuality habits now helps students develop responsibility and prepares them for future success. Please make every effort to ensure your child arrives at school on time and ready to learn each day. We appreciate your partnership and support in this effort.
As we move through November, let’s continue to work together to make each day a positive and productive experience for our students. I hope your family finds time to enjoy the season, make lasting memories, and reflect on the many things we have to be thankful for.
Thank you for your continued support of Tiger Creek. I am proud to be a part of this school and community, and I wish each of you a happy, safe, and blessed Thanksgiving!
With gratitude, Josh Hensley Assistant Principal Tiger Creek |

Our PTO did a outstanding job welcoming 738 attendees to our school. Our guests enjoyed a special performance by our talented 2nd & 3rd grade students. These students sang the sweetest songs showing our guests how much TCE loves their grandparents! Families also were fed Nachos and Moon Pies in the cafeteria, visited the Fall Book Fair and got to take family photos at the photo booth. A huge THANK YOU to our generous sponsors - CCPS Nutrition Dept, Cedar Mountain Ministries, Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant, Food Lion and United Grocery Outlet -for donating items to make this famly event a huge success! |
Our Career Day event was also shared on the CCPS social media accounts. Our career day had multiple local business, community agencies, and students from the Career Academy come to the school where they shared with our students information about their jobs, and special tools that they use in their job such as a special vehicle. By exposing our students to diverse career paths early, we help spark curiosity, build connections between classroom learning and the real world, and empower every student to dream big. Thank you to our AMAZING community partners for investing in our future leaders! |
Congratulations to Madelyn O'Shields one of our former Tiger Creek students! Also congratulations to the other 2 recipients.
Big congratulations to our outstanding students! CCPS is thrilled to announce the recipients of the Business Partner Scholarship. Peyton Walker representing LFO, Elin Rios-Lopez representing HHS, and Madelyn O'Shields representing RHS. #ECEDWE |
CCPS was named the #1 Best School District in the Chattanooga Area by Niche! This recognition reflects the hard work & dedication of our outstanding teachers, staff, students, and supportive community. |
In mid-October, the Local School Governance Team (LSGT) at every school in our district completed its annual training. To wrap up the session, each team collaborated and provided crucial feedback to help shape CCPS's next 5-Year Strategic Plan. CCPS is deeply grateful to the parents, guardians, teachers, and community members who serve on each school's team. Their dedication and leadership continue to guide the future of our district. |
CCPS recently earned the Georgia School Boards Association's (GSBA) 2026 Exemplary Governance Team Recognition, the highest achievement in the GSBA's Governance Team Recognition Program. This honor recognizes our governance team's exceptional commitment to effective governance, continuous improvement, transparency, and collaboration - all which support strong district leadership and student success. |
CCPS moved to a new communication hub over the summer. This new hub is called Parent Square and it has taken the place of Class Dojo, & Remind. It is also where TCE & CCPS messages will drop from and it is our domain for the school & CCPS websites. Above is a chart to help you get connected to this all in one communication hub. |

Rexie's first birthday party was a huge hit! Mrs. Williams attended with Leo the gecko from the 1st grade. PTO mom Brandy Layne and daughter Willow Sessions brought bearded dragon Rosey Posey. Leo and Rosey presented gifts of worms, greens, and zucchini. Other than black-bearding, head bobbing, and a refusal to wear the party hats, the lizards had a wonderful time! Happy Birthday Rexie! |
The character word for November is GRATITUDE. Gratitude is appreciating others and letting them know how they have made a difference in our lives. Take time to show gratitude during the month of Thanksgiving by telling a friend, family member, or teacher how they have helped you! |

Our school will have 2 School-Wide Family Projects this school year. In the fall, we will do our Tom Turkey Project and in the spring we will do our Kindness Heart Tree Project.
Tom Turkey went up this past week but Tom has lost all his feathers and he needs us to make him some feathers! Every student received a cardstock feather and instruction sheet for the family to make their own special feather to send in. Please make sure to write the student's name & Homeroom Teacher on the back. About once a week, I will send an updated picture of Tom has he starts getting feathers. Last year, we made Tom 181 feathers! Here is a picture of what he looked like last year with all our feathers. |
As of Thursday, November 4th - Tom Turkey has 78 feathers! Please keep sending in your feathers. How plump will Tom become as he gains your feathers? |
Join us for our PTO meeting on Monday, November 9th at 1PM! We will be going over Fall Festival totals and planning out our Cookies & Cocoa with Santa event.
You can park your car and leave it in the car rider line and join us in the auditorium!
We will have you back in the car before 2pm for dismissal! |
November 20th - PTO & the connection teachers will be doing a Christmas ornament craft with K-5th grade during their connection classes. We will need several adults us with this.
Also on November 20th around 1:30PM, PBIS may need some volunteers to help with the "Tattoo Your Teacher"
December 1st - We may need a few extra helpers to help with getting the hot cocoa made for our Cookies & Cocoa with Santa event. |
Our Fall Festival was a huge success! We want to say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all the individuals & businesses that helped make it a success by donating, volunteering, etc... We are still tallying all the info and adding the last items that were donated. We will have a formal list in our PTO meeting Monday as well as our totals.
For our first time as a team to do this, I can go ahead and tell you we did an exceptional job but there are always things that need to be fixed/changed/updated. I am so proud of our PTO officers and PTO members - they showed up and gave over a 100% effort to Tiger Creek families! The PTO Team is meeting this week to debrief and make notes of any thing that needs to be changed for next year. If you have any suggestions or comments. feel free to email them to me (sbridges.tce@catoosa.k12.ga.us) and I will present them to the team. |
Congratulations to Addie M. from Mrs. Williams' 1st Grade Classroom. Addie guessed that their were 406 pieces of candy corn in the Guess the Candy at our Fall Festival. She had the closest guess as there were 417 pieces of candy. She won $20 in Logan's gift cards! |
PTO will have their annual Cookies & Cocoa with Santa on Tuesday, December 1st from 5PM to 7PM. Santa will be on the stage ready to take pictures with your student(s) or the whole family. Then you can enjoy cookies & cocoa in the Breezeway! |
TCE has several groups of Support Staff that help our students, their families, our teachers & staff! These particular five wear many hats and do so much for the whole school! We appreciate all they do and are so happy that they are a part of Tiger Creek! |
Each month, each homeroom teacher selects the student who has shown the most growth, whether it is academic growth, behavioral growth, social growth or any combination of these. They may also select their student who demonstrates the character ed trait of the month such as responsibility, trust, etc... Congratulations to these students for showing GREAT Character and Growth! |
With several school breaks coming up, we encourage families to make reading part of their daily routine. Whether children read independently, read aloud to someone, or listen to a parent or caregiver read, these moments build vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, and grow a love of books. Even 15–20 minutes a day can help keep reading skills strong! Let your child choose books they enjoy, talk about favorite characters, or take turns reading together. Most of all, enjoy the time spent sharing a good story!
Mrs. Jill Bishop, TCE Academic Coach |
Now that the cold weather is on the way, it is the time to make sure your child has adequate layers of clothing. Students need to have warm layers as they wait for the school buses, walking into school and for recess. Classes will go out to recess as long as the temperature is 40 degrees or above and it is not raining or snowing. Once inside they can remove layers and put them in their backpacks.
If your child needs coat/gloves/etc... and you are unable to get them one, please let your child's teacher know. We have resources that can help.
Things to remember:
PLEASE label winter clothing (coats, hats, gloves, etc...) with their name if it at all possible. This helps even with the older grades. Every year we have a stack of coats, hoodies, and more in the Lost & Found. If items have your child's name, it is much easier for us to get it back to them.
PLEASE double check the hood strings on coats & hoodies as well as scarfs that they aren't too tight or tangled/tied and present a chocking hazard on the younger students.
Also, don't forget that students need to stay hydrated, even in winter weather. They are allowed to bring a water bottle to school. Again, it is best to label with their name on it.
As ALWAYS remind your student of the importance of washing their hands several times throughout the day to help keep the spread of germs to a minimum. It is the season of flu, covid, colds and more!

November Safety
As we approach the holiday months, I want to take a moment to remind our families that safety does not take a holiday. While this season is a time for gratitude, family gatherings, travel, and much-needed rest, it is also an opportunity to reinforce safe choices and responsible behavior with our children.
Please take a moment to review these safety guidelines. Whether traveling across town or out of state, please buckle up, avoid distracted driving, obey speed limits, and never drive under the influence. If your family is hosting guests, make sure any firearms remain properly secured and that children understand never to touch a firearm.
With students spending more time online during the break, parents should remain aware of their children's online activities. Let's return from Thanksgiving break refreshed, safe, and ready to finish the semester strong.
From our school community to your family, have a safe, happy, and blessed Thanksgiving!

With deep Appalachian roots, a rich musical heritage, and a community that knows how to get things done, Downtown Ringgold is making big moves while staying true to its small-town spirit!
Since 2024, the Ringgold Downtown Development Authority has invested more than $5 million into downtown revitalization and secured an impressive $2.1 million in grant funding to help bring their vision to life. From supporting local businesses through façade grants and developing a business accelerator space to strengthening community partnerships, Ringgold is laying the groundwork for a downtown that’s as vibrant as it is welcoming.
And if there’s one thing Ringgold knows how to do, it’s bring folks together! Beloved annual traditions like 1890s Days, Dolly Days, and the Haunted Depot draw visitors from near and far, filling downtown with music, laughter, and plenty of hometown pride. The DDA has also invested thousands into the historic Ringgold Depot Opry, keeping one of the community’s most treasured landmarks alive with performances spanning musical genres.
But Ringgold isn’t resting on its laurels! With continued streetscape beautification efforts and future improvements to the Benton Coal Yard project on the horizon, there’s plenty more to look forward to in this North Georgia gem.
And here’s a little fun fact worth singing about: Dolly Parton herself tied the knot in Downtown Ringgold! It’s just one more piece of the town’s colorful history that makes this Main Street something special.
Congratulations to Downtown Ringgold on being named our Georgia Main Street of the Month! Your dedication to preserving local character while investing in a bright future is what Main Street is all about. |
